Keep These Tips in Mind
Dawn Muyres, a veteran FLL coach and the Central Texas FLL Team Liaison, offers this advice:
"The most important part of being a coach is to encourage , encourage, encourage. Nothing is impossible; everyone has
something of value to add to the team. A coach's job is to know the rules and to help the kids find a path through the
chaos. Remember to:
- Ask a lot of questions - Why? How does it work? Why did you decide to do things this way? How else might we do this? You don't have to know the answers to ask the right questions.
- Break down the problem - Help break down complex problems into smaller steps the team can understand.
- Stay on Track - Manage the timeline and keep reminding your team of it. Two weeks can be forever to a kid. Two months is incomprehensible."
