Robotathon Rules

General Robotathon 2009 Rules:

  • Robots must be fully autonomous.
  • Teams will be provided with a kit of parts, however extra parts can be purchased for a maximum total price of $50 if desired.
  • Robots must fit in basket (~12” x 14” x 6”).
  • Robots must be ruled “safe” by RAS members prior to competition & non-hazardous to spectators or the course.
  • Free of any form of combustion device(s) e.g. gas engines, rocket engines, flame throwers, candles.

General Contest Procedure:

  • Contestants are allowed 3 runs in each level, or until goal is reached, with a total of 5 minutes each run to complete the goal.
  • A timekeeper will start each run with "On your mark, Get Set, Go."
  • Clock starts when "Go" is called.
  • Robot must remain behind the starting line until "Go" is called.
  • The clock stops when goal is completed.
  • The timekeeper will determine if and when the goal is met.
  • There is no penalty for touching walls.
